CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE

After a harrowing year, Christmas has arrived! We’re welcoming the festive season more than ever and getting into the Christmas spirit. We’re about to put the Christmas up at the head office, we’re preparing for the galleries opening on Wednesday 2nd December, and for the first year ever, Lucy has started wearing Christmas jumpers before her husband! 2020 has been a rocky road, and a roller coaster ride of emotions, so we’re working hard to make Christmas shopping as easy as possible this year. We have lots of beautiful prints and little Christmas gifts that are perfect for showing the most important people in your life just how special they are – from Limited Edition artwork and (not so little) Little Prints, to mugs, notebooks, calendars and diaries. Here are a few of our favourite things.

We have lots of homeware and stationery, printed with Lucy’s quirky artwork including fine bone china mugs bearing her beloved sheep and cows. If you’re shopping for a dog lover, the ‘Together, Whatever the Weather’ mug is a great find, depicting a human and their faithful four-legged companion, amidst a park filled with autumn trees. In addition to ceramics, we have a dazzling new range of textiles, promising to brighten up the kitchen all year round! Don’t miss the Butterflies and Babies cooking apron and the A Cheeky Escape tea towel.

New this year are the Rainbow of Hope diaries and calendars. The week-to-view diary also has space for notes, addresses and birthdays, and the calendar is filled with 12 months of glorious artwork to brighten up each day. We also have cheery new A5 notebooks and to-do-lists in some of Lucy’s most popular designs, including Daisy the cow, Butterflies and Babies and A Cheeky Escape sheep art. These items make wonderful stocking fillers, or perhaps a much deserved treat for yourself!

It’s sometimes tricky knowing what to gift loved ones, especially those awkward family members that seem to have everything! A piece of art is a unique gift, that they can keep forever, and will make them smile much more than pyjamas or slippers. Even if you are gifting an avid Lucy Pittaway fan, new artwork has been recently released, so you are sure to find something to surprise loved ones. If you’re looking for a thoughtful, well-timed gift with meaning, several pieces are particularly notable.

A new limited edition reflecting current times, ‘Hope is on the Horizon’ symbolises the storm we are weathering – and although we are bruised and battered after a challenging year, there is in indeed hope on the horizon. ‘Wool Meet Again’ pays homage to a great song of the second world war. A time when the nation was fighting a very different war, but a time when people also found themselves separated from loved ones. This piece is full of hope, that very soon we may be able to meet with family and friends, in crowds and celebrate being together. ‘Rainbow of Hope’ is also inspired by 2020’s events, the bright and cheerful piece features colourful houses underneath a radiant rainbow and is inspired by the rainbows of hope that filled our windows during the summer lockdown.

Perhaps you know someone that loves sausage dogs? You’re in luck as Lucy has released several new pieces of dog art including ‘Love is in the Air’ depicting two adorable sausage dogs, and ‘Puppy Love’ featuring a dachshund sporting a spotty neckerchief with a giant red heart.

Lots of people have taken up or rediscovered their love of cycling this year, and we have great gifts for them too! Including colourful mugs of riders through the seasons, and the ‘Endurance’ mug printed with a wintery scene of cyclists climbing up snow topped hills – ideal for Christmas. Lucy has also just launched a brand-new collection of Cycling Sketches featuring rainbows, female cyclists and dogs! A little more contemporary than her usual style, this collection is black and white with a pop colour. ‘Hitching a Ride’ and ‘Come Along Sausage’ are two of the most popular pieces.

All of Lucy’s open editions are available as mounted Little Prints. Don’t let the name deceive you, measuring 17.5” square, these are not so little! With a wide range of colours and themes, there is truly something for everyone. From loving highland cows, prickly hedgehogs and cute sheep to new festive Christmas characters.
