If you’ve ever wondered how one of the UK’s best-loved artists celebrates a major milestone, the answer is simple — by giving something back to the people who’ve supported her.
To mark 10 years since opening her first gallery, Lucy Pittaway is running her biggest ever giveaway: a £10,000 art competition. Ten winners will each receive a £1,000 voucher to spend on Lucy Pittaway artwork, including framed prints, canvases, or one of her much-loved sheep pieces.
A Journey from Home Studio to National Recognition
Lucy began painting more than 13 years ago, working from a small studio in her garden — a converted metal shed. She started by creating original commissions and limited-edition prints. As more people discovered her colourful and uplifting pastel work, demand grew quickly.
In 2015, Lucy opened her first gallery in Brompton-on-Swale, Richmondshire, marking the start of a growing art business that now spans across the UK.
Seven Galleries Across the North
Today, there are seven Lucy Pittaway galleries across Yorkshire, the North East, and the Lake District. You can find them in Yarm, Newcastle, Richmond, Harrogate, York, Keswick, and Bowness-on-Windermere.
Each gallery celebrates Lucy’s unique approach to storytelling through art. Visitors can explore framed prints, mounted artwork, canvases and homeware inspired by her most recognisable creations.
Her Outlet Store and Studio in Brompton-on-Swale is the creative hub of her business. It’s home to Lucy’s art studio, the company’s framing team, and its warehouse — everything in one place to bring her work from concept to customer.
From Yorkshire Artist to UK Favourite
Over the past decade, Lucy has become one of the UK’s most successful commercial artists. She has been named the UK’s Most Popular Commercial Artist three times and served as the official artist for the Tour de Yorkshire.
Her tribute to the Sycamore Gap tree gained international recognition and further strengthened her reputation as an artist who captures the heart of the nation.
Lucy’s collections often feature rolling Yorkshire landscapes, cyclists, dogs, and her famous sheep. Each piece celebrates everyday life, connecting with people through warmth, humour, and familiarity.

Running this competition feels like an exciting way to get people involved in the 10th birthday celebrations, which is a huge milestone for us as a business, and me as an artist.”
