Lucy Pittaway & Macmillan Cancer Support

Supporting Macmillan Cancer Support: Our Coffee Mornings

On Friday 30th September, all our six galleries had the pleasure of hosting the company-wide coffee mornings in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

At Lucy Pittaway, we’re often told that our artwork brings joy to many. Keeping this spirit, we welcomed everyone to be enveloped by vibrant art whilst sipping on refreshments and supporting a noble cause. Several of Lucy’s creations stem from personal challenges requiring resilience and heart. We cherish sharing these stories through art with our patrons.

Words from Macmillan

“On behalf of all our Macmillan nurses, doctors, support workers and cancer experts, a hearty thank-you goes to everyone at Lucy Pittaway Galleries. We’re truly grateful for the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved. Without such support, our donation-driven services wouldn’t be possible. Every event contributes to ensuring we stand by those facing cancer from diagnosis and beyond.”

– Fiona Gavaghan, Macmillan Fundraising Manager

Staff Insights

To commemorate our first coffee morning with Macmillan on September 30th, 2022, a staff member offered to share their personal tryst with cancer and their Macmillan journey.

Jane’s Story

In 2017, my partner Steve was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer. His journey comprised of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and operations. Sharon, our dedicated Macmillan nurse, was a beacon of hope for both of us. Her proactive care, sporadic uplifting calls, and unwavering support during appointments was monumental. Despite getting the “all clear”, the journey doesn’t end. Every follow-up is a tense countdown, and Macmillan nurses are there every step of the way. Their support is invaluable.
