The Reason We’re Celebrating “Made in the UK Day”

This 9th March, let’s come together to celebrate the best of British creativity and manufacturing.
“Made in the UK Day”
is a special occasion to recognise the incredible talent and products created right here on our doorstep! Founded by former retail buyer, Katy Hills, the day has been highlighting the importance of supporting British industries and craftsmanship for over 20 years.

“Made in the UK” represents quality, creativity, and the pride of British workers. However, the UK has recently fallen out of the top 10 manufacturing nations for the first time, making it more important than ever for us to support local.

There are incredible talents hidden in every corner of the UK… From Harris Tweed, handwoven in the Outer Hebrides… to woollen fabrics crafted by AW Hainsworth – a business that’s been operating for over 240 years…. and the beautiful St Eval candles made with care in Cornwall.

Buying local brings a range of benefits that help us all:

  • Lowers our carbon footprint
  • Boosts the local economy
  • Preserves UK-based manufacturing
  • Saves essential skills and craftsmanship
  • Protects and creates job opportunities

At Lucy Pittaway Ltd, we’re proud that the vast majority of our products are crafted right here in the UK. We’re committed to supporting British manufacturing and are working towards the goal of having 100% of our products made locally.

Let’s all do our part to celebrate and support the quality products crafted here in the UK. Together, we can help build a sustainable, thriving future for UK-made goods.

Happy “Made in the UK Day” from all of us at Lucy Pittaway Ltd!
