New Artwork: “Lady in Red”

“Lady in Red” features an elegant greyhound adorned with a distinctive red hat, set against a dark, moody background. This piece represents a bold shift in Lucy’s artistic approach, exploring a more focused palette. The vibrant red of the hat dramatically contrasts with the muted tones of the greyhound, creating a powerful visual impact.

Lucy explains, “This piece is a bit of an experiment for me—a way to dip my toe into something different. While my work is often filled with colour, I wanted to challenge myself with a more subdued palette.”

A Nod to Past Works

Although a departure from her recent collections, “Lady in Red” echoes elements of Lucy\’s earlier pieces like “Blue Eyes” and “Ewe Are My Sunshine,” where a dark background highlights a vivid focal point. The greyhound, a new subject for Lucy, adds a fresh dimension to her portfolio.

“The Greyhound is an animal I haven’t painted before,” Lucy notes. “I love her elegant poise and striking features. The red hat pops, but her gaze truly draws you in.”

Exploring New Horizons

“Lady in Red” reflects Lucy Pittaway\’s ongoing exploration of new creative avenues. “This piece was an experiment for me—a way to dip my toe into something different. While my work is often awash with colour, I wanted to challenge myself with an alternative approach. Changing my composition and use of colour, I have created a strong focal point with the hat and the eye, making those areas really pop.”
