Lucy Pittaway is known for her landscapes, skies, and sheep. However, her latest work takes a bold new direction. The Ladies Collection is a series of six paintings that focus on women, each captured in a single, powerful moment.
Inspiration
The idea began in Lucy’s teenage years when she worked in her mum’s wedding dress and flower shop. Surrounded by fabrics and flowers, she sketched women in flowing gowns and filled notebooks with ideas. Those drawings stayed with her as her career moved in other directions.
Recently, seeing her daughter and friends dressed for end-of-school celebrations brought those memories back. As a result, Lucy returned to those early sketches and explored the subject again. This time, she approached the theme with the confidence and experience gained from years of painting landscapes and skies.
The Six Paintings
Each painting tells a story through colour, movement, and emotion. Together, they reveal a new side of Lucy’s creativity:

- Liberty: Strong and striking. A red dress flows through darkness as the figure steps forward.
- Joy: Alive with energy. A golden dress sweeps outward as light dances across the canvas.
A New Chapter
