I painted this piece in my very early days as a 'hopeful' artist. I used to dream of making it to become a recognised professional artist and to be able to see my work on the walls of galleries and in people's homes. At this time, little houses in my paintings were representational of people and here I am, perched on the hill, looking over at the big city, full of high rise buildings (the big established artists) and feeling like that was another world away from where I stood.
