DESCRIPTION

Arnside in the Lake District is the subject of this colourful painting. It was a dreary day but the sky was nevertheless dramatic as the pale sun set and the clouds seemed to form in layers of differing patterns and depths. I thought how beautiful it would look, brought to life with colour. This was my first big skies piece and only the second time I had really painted with soft pastel and I fell in love with it.
