DESCRIPTION
The Lions Ewe-nite marks Lucy Pittaway’s tribute to one of rugby’s greatest traditions: the British and Irish Lions tours of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. A determined sheep, instantly recognisable to Lucy’s collectors, takes centre stage, adorned with a multi-coloured headband uniting the four home nations. A subtle shield on the rugby tee and the watchful lion set the scene, while the sheep’s black eye and bandage bring a light-hearted nod to the physical demands of the sport. Split between light and shadow, the painting reflects the day-and-night divide as teams and supporters follow the action on the far side of the world: a piece that captures the camaraderie, humour and pride that define every Lions tour.
