Lucy Unveils Woodland Art Sanctuary Vision

Lucy Unveils Woodland Art Sanctuary Vision

Lucy Sycamore Artwork

Lucy Pittaway, the acclaimed artist, has unveiled her ambitious plan for a woodland art sanctuary in response to the loss of a beloved landmark and overwhelming public demand. Her emotive artwork depicting the famous tree against the Northern Lights backdrop, coupled with a pledge to plant a tree for every print sold, has garnered remarkable support, with over 1,300 prints purchased within eight weeks.

Driven by a collective sentiment mourning the loss of the iconic Sycamore Gap tree, Lucy aims to create a lasting legacy. “The impact of the tree's felling resonated deeply with many,” expressed Lucy. “While the tree itself cannot be replaced, I'm hopeful that together we can preserve its essence.

Her vision for the new woodland transcends a mere tribute; it's envisioned as a multifaceted space for leisure and education. Envisaged features encompass an array of offerings — a forest school nurturing children's understanding of nature, serene woodland trails, designated picnic spots, and areas designed for contemplative reflection. Though Lucy has outlined initial concepts for the woodland, the canvas remains open, ripe with possibilities. It could serve as an expansion of an existing locale or emerge as an entirely new woodland venture. Crucially, the site must be accessible to the public, Lucy emphasises “If this vision materialises, it would be a sanctuary where art becomes a conduit for exploring and relishing the beauty that surrounds us—a timeless gift inspiring generations,” Lucy Pittaway envisions.

The commitment to plant a tree with every purchase of Lucy’s Sycamore Gap artwork, surpassing 1,300 trees, represents more than just art. It embodies a steadfast pledge to blending creativity with a deep respect for fostering the natural world.

Lucy’s ambition extends beyond this pledge. She aspires for this haven not merely to be a woodland but a sanctuary — a space where nature meets education, art and sculptures, leaving an indelible impression on future generations.

To transform this aspiration into reality, Lucy seeks partnerships with like-minded entities—businesses, individuals, and landowners—inviting them to collaborate and turn this dream into a reality. Picture families and children exploring nature and artwork within this woodland — educational workshops, interactive exhibits, and captivating art installations awaiting visitors of all ages, promising an experience that ignites joy, curiosity, and learning.
